Listen, it’s the day before Labor Day and one of my great friends, Damon Johnson, decides he wants to do the #357VeganChallenge.<\/a> Please understand that he does not like to follow rules. He wants to do it now, not when he is supposed to, the last week of the month. He wants to do it right after the holiday, and he wants me to be his personal grocery shopper ( I didn\u2019t even know that was in my title)!<\/p>\n

Now, this all sounds well, but he picked a day where I have no staff; I have my 2 sons and that\u2019s it. My daughter was at Grandma’s, my Husband was sleeping, Liz was in a different state, and both of my peeps, Jordette<\/a> and Angelyn<\/a>, were on completely opposite sides of town.<\/p>\n

I know my son who just turned 14 was not the videographer of choice for this this experience, but sometimes you have to make it work.  He was not prepared for us, because when Damon and I get together, it\u2019s a spontaneous combustion of, personalities, attitude, fun\u2026 actually I don\u2019t even know what to call it. IT\u2019S FANTASTICAL!!!!<\/p>\n

I gave my son the speech, \u201cyour only job is to press record.\u201d Don\u2019t ask questions, just push the button when I tell you to, because I didn\u2019t contact my favorite Kroger grocery store <\/a>in advance to let them know I wanted to record (smh). I told him only make eye contact with me. I couldn\u2019t legitimately say to him, \u201cHey… It\u2019s easier to ask for forgiveness, than permission\u201d, because he would use it against me later on in life!!!<\/p>\n

So we walk literally less than 1 foot in the grocery store, from the speech, and it happens. This kid sees one of the managers (because we live in the grocery store) and immediately shows her the camera, and then proceeds to ASK\u2026 (YES I SAID IT ASK) can we record for my Moms \u201cCooking With Que\u201d show?<\/a>
\nPause.<\/p>\n

I could have literally strangled this kid, then I thought. He\u2019s pretty honest and this is a great trait\u2026. but in the moment. I was like YOU HAD ONE JOB!!! To walk in, follow me, and push record! Lord Jesus\u2026 I was furious! Like\u2026 REALLY WOULD YOU RAT YOUR OWN MOTHER OUT!!! I BIRTHED YOU FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! HELP ME (in my Kevin Hart voice)!!!!<\/p>\n

The great thing, is that the manager was super cool. I told her that I\u2019m sorry, this was really spontaneous and we both needed groceries, and she said you are supposed to get with corporate, keep customers out of the way, and just go ahead! (Bless her heart)<\/p>\n

So..after all that, I have come to the realization that I have really good honest kids (Thank God), and everything happens for a purpose, and we had an AMAZING shopping trip!!!<\/p>\n
